Dirty Will S.

Love's Labour's Lost at Bard on the Beach is an entertaining show by a well-known playwright.

Although I'm sure I missed some of the double-entendre, I hope I can get away with overlooking the irony of going on a date to see it.

The Garden Spy

The Constant Gardener based on the John Le Carré novel is the first good "spy" movie in quite a while. The story of a lowly diplomat trying to uncover a conspiracy between his government and big pharma was quite interesting and had amazing cinematography (not knowing much about making movies all I can say is I know it when I see it).

There needs to be more good spy movies made. Since they're about the only thing I can sit through from start to finish (other than quirky comedies by Wes Anderson and his co-conspirators) I hope they make more spy movies much like this (even though the villain was a bit too one-dimensional).

Finally saw The Beach Boy

It opened with "Do It Again" and went on and on. The early part of the show was a mix of early Beach Boys and post-Beach Boys material. Then he moved into Pet Sounds. After the break he performed Smile in full followed by a seven song encore.

The band was great and one guy even played a melodian, which is something I've never seen used by a real musical group before. They didn't introduce him as being from Hawthorne, California, but then again he hasn't lived there in several decades.

I'm sure it would have been great to see him when he was still on top of the pop music world, but even four decades removed it was great.

Not quite as good as the time I saw The Beach Boys, but when a musician plays about forty songs and you recognize all but one as some of your favourites it has to be a good night.
